Now that the lens is safely protected for its journey around the production lab, it’s time to see how the lens is able to be held in the various machines along the way.
It’s time to apply the blocks. The blocks are used during the production process to safely hold the lenses in the machines. The blocks are attached using a liquid metal alloy. These blocks will be removed later in production.
After the lenses are blocked, the lenses make their way to “the stacker.” The stacker is a simple machine that holds the lenses for about 15 minutes in order for the metal alloy to fully dry and harden.
